Interview preparation

Your Remote Interview Setup: Camera, Sound, Light and Nerves

In a remote role, your interview is also a live demonstration of how you will show up on every call.

The technical baseline

Join on a computer, never a phone. Camera at eye level, light in front of you rather than behind, a plain background, headphones with a microphone, and a tested backup internet source.

Log in five minutes early and confirm the meeting link the day before.

Presence beats polish

Look at the camera when you speak and at the screen when you listen. Pause before answering; a two-second silence reads as thoughtful, not slow.

Close with intent

Ask two prepared questions about the role's priorities in the first 90 days, then send a short thank-you note within 24 hours restating one thing you can take off their plate.
